Ann Aber joins the company after 6-year tenure at JOANN Inc.
Union Home Mortgage (UHM), a high-growth independent mortgage banking company with a world-class culture, announced today the appointment of a new Chief Legal Officer. Ann Aber, who has been practicing law for over 20 years, has joined the mortgage lender after over six years at JOANN, Inc.
In her new role as Union Home’s Chief Legal Officer, Aber will help mitigate risk and moderate growth strategy as the company expands, both in lending and in personnel.

Aber’s previous role at JOANN, Inc. saw her in a combined capacity as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal & Human Resources Officer; and while at JOANN, Aber led JOANN through an IPO and two Chapter 11 bankruptcies, while also overseeing the Company’s human resources, corporate communications, charitable partnerships, customer care, ESG and diversity & inclusion efforts.
Outside of her legal career, Aber is passionate about giving back to her community and is currently serving on the Board of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and the Board of Visitors for her alma mater, Cleveland State University’s College of Law. She also serves as a frequent speaker on various topics including corporate governance, legal operations, and women’s leadership. In 2021, Aber was named a Notable General Counsel by Crain’s Cleveland Business.
