Udemy Introduces AI-Powered Microlearning for Skills

Instructor-led, AI-powered microlearning to transform trusted Udemy courses into adaptive, short-form experiences

Udemy (Nasdaq: UDMY), a global AI-powered skills acceleration platform, today announced the phased rollout of a new AI-powered microlearning experience designed to evolve how skills are developed across the platform — meeting learners where they are and expanding how instructors teach.

As learning becomes more continuous and time-constrained, learners increasingly favor short, personalized, focused experiences that fit into daily workflows and content habits. We believe Udemy’s AI-powered microlearning approach will transform instructor-created, long-form video courses into adaptive, engaging, interactive experiences optimized for mobile and desktop learning.

Powered by Udemy AI, instructors will be able to quickly review, edit, create or approve engaging microlearning content and activities derived from their courses, utilizing a “human-in-the-loop” approach to ensure the quality of the experience before it reaches learners. Over the course of 2026, these instructor-validated microlearning experiences will be delivered to learners as they pursue skill development and mastery on Udemy.com, through the mobile app, and in enterprise learning environments via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server.

We believe Udemy AI Microlearning will connect instructor-validated content, learner progress, and real-time context — enabling the platform to deliver the right short-form learning experience at the right time, personalized to each individual learner.

Udemy’s microlearning experience will introduce:

  • Instructor AI tools that will enable instructors to transform their trusted course content and underlying learning objectives into interactive microlearning activities.
  • Adaptive, AI-sequenced experiences, using a mix of short videos, quizzes, and other instructional and active learning content.
  • Instructor-validated quality, allowing learning content to remain practical and grounded in real-world expertise.
  • Context-aware interactions, enabling AI-enhanced responses informed by learners’ background, goals and motivations.
  • Expanded opportunities for instructors, welcoming both existing Udemy instructors and new creators who specialize in short-form, interactive learning experiences.

“At Udemy, instructors are central to how skills are developed on our platform,” said Hugo Sarrazin, President and CEO. “AI enables us to adapt and scale their expertise, while our platform provides the context needed to personalize each experience and meet learners’ evolving needs.”

“We see instructors as creative directors and orchestrators of an AI-enhanced learning experience — curating, designing, and validating each component of the learner journey,” added Zane Vella, Head of Content and Instructor Strategy at Udemy. “This model recognizes the essential role of human insights, perspective, and lived experience in teaching and learning, and reaffirms our commitment to the instructor community.”

The AI-powered microlearning experience is being designed to be flexible and mobile-friendly, while serving as a foundational capability that will power experiences across Udemy’s consumer and enterprise offerings. The experience was first previewed at the organization’s semiannual Front Row event and will roll out in phases throughout 2026.
