Tandem PV Names Frank Blohm as Vice President of Operations

Tandem

Tandem PV, a pioneer in high-efficiency perovskite solar panels, today announced the appointment of Frank Blohm as Vice President of Operations. Blohm will oversee the company’s operational expansion, including supply chain, real estate and facilities strategy as Tandem PV prepares to bring its innovative solar technology to market at commercial scale.

Blohm brings a proven track record of building world-class operations and resilient supply chains at the intersection of advanced manufacturing and clean energy. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Relyion Energy, and previously held leadership roles at EnerVenue, Infinera, and Velodyne LiDAR. Blohm was a global operations executive at Extreme Networks for over a decade, where he managed complex supplier networks, and scaled production in the U.S., Asia, and Europe.

As Tandem PV localizes its supply chain and builds out domestic infrastructure, Blohm’s expertise will be critical to reducing dependency on suppliers overseas and strengthening U.S. competitiveness in next-generation solar technology.

“With the accelerating need to rebuild clean energy manufacturing in the U.S., Frank’s deep operational and supply chain expertise is exactly what we need,” said Scott Wharton, CEO of Tandem PV. “He’s led the scale-up of billion-dollar production operations and brings extensive experience from the battery industry – expertise that maps directly to the challenges and opportunities in scaling advanced solar manufacturing.”

“What drew me to Tandem PV was the unique combination of world-class technology and a values-driven leadership team,” said Frank Blohm. “Scaling operations and supply chain processes here isn’t just an exciting new professional challenge, it’s an opportunity to help advance the company’s mission to shape the future of American solar.”

Tandem PV is currently expanding its operations following a recent $50 million Series A funding round. The company’s panels feature a proprietary tandem structure that combines thin-film perovskite with conventional silicon to generate up to 30% more power than standard panels. By producing its technology domestically, Tandem PV aims to reduce costs, streamline logistics, and enable secure access to clean energy technologies.

Tandem PV was recently recognized by TIME Magazine as one of the Top GreenTech Companies of 2025 and included in Congruent Ventures’ “50 by 2050” list of top climate tech companies poised to make a significant impact. Tandem PV was also a recipient of the 2025 National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) Best Pre-Commercialization award.
