Roots, creator of the agentic AI platform for insurance and developer of InsurGPT™, the world’s first generative AI model purpose-built for insurance, announced the appointment of Diane Brassard as head of education and advocacy. With over three decades of experience across claims, underwriting, operations, and automation, Brassard brings a unique blend of industry knowledge and innovation leadership to Roots’ growing team.
In her role, Brassard will lead the development of educational programming and thought leadership initiatives designed to help insurance professionals adopt intelligent automation and AI best practices. She will oversee a portfolio of content designed to accelerate the understanding and adoption of cutting-edge AI solutions throughout the insurance value chain.
“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Diane to the Roots team,” said Chaz Perera, co-founder and CEO of Roots. “Diane has a deep understanding of the operational realities insurers face, as well as a clear vision for how AI can be a force multiplier in transforming how work gets done. Her passion for educating and advocating on behalf of the industry makes her the ideal person to lead this critical function at Roots.”
Before joining Roots, Brassard served as BPO engagement owner at WR Berkley – Regional Shared Services, where she drove strategic alignment between business stakeholders and offshore partners to enhance operations in underwriting and claims. Her earlier leadership roles include AVP and director of underwriting operations at Berkley Mid-Atlantic, and key operational leadership positions at Colony Specialty (Argo Group) and The Main Street America Group, where she spent more than 20 years implementing automation and process improvements across the enterprise.
Brassard’s career has been marked by a focus on scalable transformation; elevating customer, broker, and agent experiences; and driving measurable impact through intelligent systems. At Roots, she will champion knowledge-sharing and cross-industry collaboration to help insurers unlock the full potential of agentic AI.
“This is a pivotal moment for the insurance industry,” said Brassard. “The tools we have at our disposal today—especially AI—can fundamentally reimagine how insurers serve customers, operate efficiently, and adapt to change. I’m thrilled to join Roots and contribute to an organization that not only builds best-in-class AI solutions but also deeply understands the importance of education, trust, and transformation.”
As Roots continues to redefine the future of insurance with AI, Brassard’s appointment underscores the company’s commitment to ensuring customers have the knowledge and support needed to lead confidently in a rapidly evolving landscape.
