Nextivity Expands MegaFi 2 / MegaGo 2 5G HPUE Router Ecosystem

Nextivity quick-deploy Wi-Fi mesh system supporting FirstNet operations.

Initial project aims to create a low-cost, portable, quick-deploy Wi-Fi mesh network for first responders on scene in rural or other edge-of-network locales.

Ahead of the Vision FirstNet® Users Summit in Indianapolis, IN, Nextivity is announcing its initiative aimed at increasing the impact of the Nextivity HPUE MegaFi devices with approved third-party accessories.

“Leveraging the unsurpassed edge-of-network performance of the MegaFi 2 mobile or MegaGo 2 portable HPUE enterprise routers, high-quality internet connectivity can be provided in hard- to-reach places. Creating a community of third parties that innovate with our HPUE technology increases the number of unique use cases we can address with the power of HP,” says Nextivity CEO Michiel Lotter. “We’ve launched our first trials with peiker International, aimed at developing a quick-deploy, wide-area Wi-Fi mesh network for large operational areas. We’re excited for the capabilities this and other projects will bring to the FirstNet® and enterprise communities.”

A Wi-Fi mesh network would, for example, be particularly useful in remote rescue-type operations, or to expand the reach of Wi-Fi around a command vehicle to allow teams on scene to organize and spread out.

Nextivity is the only company supplying 3GPP Power Class 1 HPUE enterprise grade routers with remote monitoring and management to the FirstNet user community. These devices are supported by Nextivity’s IntelliRange® technology. Together, the Nextivity MegaFi 2 or MegaGo 2 support emergency responders – including law enforcement, firefighters, emergency transport, medical staff, disaster response teams, critical infrastructure repair crews, and more – in their vehicles and in the areas where they need to operate to address emergent incidents. With Nextivity opening its ecosystem to third-party collaborators able to take advantage of its proprietary technology, the ability of first responders to receive critical communications will be improved.
