Nanotech Precision Brings First Femtosecond Laser Machine to North America

This fall, the Minnesota-based company debuted CHARMILLES LASER X 500 U, a milestone for the company and advancement in the industry

Nanotech Precision, LLC, an innovative manufacturer of complex micro-sized components that support the medical, semiconductor and aerospace industries, announced it has invested in a new CHARMILLES LASER X 500 U, officially unveiled at the EMO tradeshow in Hannover, Germany, on September 22, 2025. This innovative 5-axis laser technology represents a major milestone for Nanotech Precision, introducing extreme speeds and unmatched precision at the micro scale. The machine’s highly sophisticated software makes extremely complex operations streamlined with unprecedented laser control when micro-cutting, micro-drilling and micro-machining parts.

For the past year, Nanotech Precision has been participating in an exclusive field test agreement with machining partners, United Machining (formerly GF Machining). Through this agreement, Nanotech Precision played a key role in evaluating and refining the machine’s performance, contributing critical data to support its final development and specification process.

“This is a significant development for our company,” said Dale Skoog, General Manager of Nanotech Precision. “Securing the first Charmilles Laser X 500 U femtosecond laser in North America reinforces Nanotech Precision’s dedication to continuous improvement in technology and equipment. By integrating this system with our current femtosecond laser technology, we can expand the possibilities in micro manufacturing for the engineering teams we support.”

Another Example of a Commitment to Excellence and Focus on Innovation

With the addition of this femtosecond laser machine’s remarkable speed, 5-axis versatility, extreme precision and proven repeatability, Nanotech Precision will continue to support its customers by pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in micro manufacturing, especially in industries such as medical device, semiconductor, and aerospace.
