Matanuska Telecom Association, Inc. Appoints Demian Voiles as CEO

MTA welcomes Demian Voiles as Chief Executive Officer in 2025.

MTA, Alaska’s technology and telecommunications leader, has appointed Demian Voiles as Chief Executive Officer following a nationwide search conducted in partnership with CarterBaldwin Executive Search. Demian will replace retiring CEO Michael C. Burke beginning September 29, 2025.

A seasoned executive with nearly three decades of experience leading operations, sales, and engineering teams in Fortune 50 companies, Demian brings a proven track record of operational excellence, driving growth, building high-performing teams, and expanding network infrastructure.

“Demian brings a unique combination of entrepreneurial vision and large-scale operational expertise,” said Ken Kincaid, Chief Governance Officer of the MTA Board. “His leadership in building markets from the ground up, along with his success in delivering transformative growth for global telecom companies, makes him the right leader to guide MTA through a period of continued expansion and community impact.”

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Michael Burke for his outstanding leadership and years of dedicated service,” Kincaid added. “Under his guidance, the organization has grown stronger, expanded its impact, and positioned itself for long-term success. Michael leaves behind a legacy of integrity, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the communities we serve, and we are deeply grateful for the foundation he has built.”

Demian joins MTA from Comcast [NASDAQ: CMCSA], where he most recently served as RVP of Construction and Engineering, managing a $300 million capital budget and leading the company’s fastest-growing expansion region. Previously, as RVP of Sales and Marketing in Texas, he directed strategies that generated $2 billion in annual revenue and consistently achieved industry-leading customer satisfaction.

Prior to Comcast, Demian held senior leadership roles at GCI Liberty (formerly  NASDAQ: GLIBA, now part of Liberty Broadband  NASDAQ: LBRDA) and Verizon (NYSE: VZ), including launching and leading Verizon Alaska as its first employee, where he built the operation from the ground up and quickly surpassed market and revenue targets.

“I am honored to return to Alaska and lead MTA into its next chapter,” said Voiles. “MTA has a rich history of innovation and service to its members, and I look forward to building on that foundation by investing in people, expanding our networks, and ensuring MTA remains a vital partner to both local communities and the state as a whole.”

Demian holds a BA in political science from the University of California, Davis.
