Lithos Carbon Delivers 5,160 Tons of Carbon Removal via Weathering

Lithos

Lithos Carbon, the leader in permanent carbon capture through enhanced rock weathering, today announced the successful issuance of 5,160 registry-certified tons of carbon dioxide removal. This milestone represents the largest enhanced rock weathering delivery to date, marking a significant advancement in the scaling of this critical carbon removal solution.

The issuance, which is approximately 7x larger than any previous enhanced rock weathering carbon credit delivery, demonstrates Lithos Carbon’s ability to execute at scale while maintaining the highest standards of scientific rigor and verification. These American-made carbon credits were generated through partnerships with North Carolina, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Michigan farmers who applied domestically-sourced and nutrient-rich basalt rockdust to their fields.

“This issuance proves that enhanced rock weathering can scale rapidly while delivering real benefits to farmers,” said Mary Yap, CEO of Lithos Carbon. “By working with American farmers and using locally sourced, byproduct rocks, we’re not only removing carbon from the atmosphere but also strengthening farm economics and soil health across rural communities at a time when farm margins across the country are under real pressure.”

The enhanced rock weathering process deployed by Lithos has provided multiple benefits to participating farmers, including improved soil pH management, enhanced nutrient availability, and additional revenue streams. Farmers report savings compared to traditional soil amendment applications while contributing to natural resource conservation.

This milestone delivery has already created dozens of American jobs across the supply chain—from quarry operations to application services to scientific monitoring—with plans to significantly expand employment as Lithos scales its operations to meet growing demand for high-quality carbon removal.

The registry-certified tons were verified through rigorous scientific measurement and monitoring protocols that track carbon removal from field application through to thousand-year storage. This empirical approach ensures that each ton represents genuine, additional, and durable removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
