The 3PL provider also surpassed its LED lighting goals two years early

Kenco, a leading third-party logistics provider, today announced the findings of its annual Sustainability Report, highlighting broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and the outcomes of its company-wide efforts to foster safe workplaces and strong communities, protect the environment and build long-term economic resilience in 2024 and 2025. Kenco has aligned its sustainability efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Kenco strengthened its efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, focusing on recycling at warehouse facilities, repurposing operational byproducts and implementing smart sensors and monitors on trash compactors and dumpsters. The efforts paid off, as the 3PL provider diverted 2,037 tons of waste from its facilities away from landfills – a 22% increase from 2023.

In addition, Kenco reached a major milestone in its effort to increase use of LED fixtures in its facilities. The 3PL provider reached 87% LED coverage at its leased warehouses in 2024, beating its goal of 80% by 2026.

“When we’re looking to streamline and enhance operations in our facilities, we’re not just thinking about efficiency – we’re considering how those moves can impact our long-term sustainability,” said Denis Reilly, President and CEO at Kenco. “As we continue to grow, our sustainability efforts compound, reaching new sites and contributing to a better tomorrow.”

Kenco’s commitment to workplace safety and engagement also drove results in 2024. The 3PL provider achieved an OSHA total recordable incidence rate (TRIR) of 2.70, down from 2.95 in 2023 and remaining significantly below the industry average of 5.5 – continuing a more than two decade run of outperforming peers. The company also received a Gallup Employee Engagement rating of 3.98 out of 5 – an increase from 3.94 in 2023.

Among the report’s other highlights:

  • Kenco employees contributed a total of 2,721 volunteer hours, a 51% increase from 2023, and raised $44,198 to support United Way.
  • Kenco announced the launch of two Community and Culture field chapters, an effort to ensure Kenco remains a place where people feel connected, supported, and proud to be part of the team, with plans to introduce more chapters soon.
  • Kenco kept emissions at bay, while adding both sites and jobs, decreasing carbon intensity nearly 5% YOY.

“With Community and Culture, we’re proud to highlight initiatives that strengthen trust and psychological safety, help employees grow through talent development, and create meaningful moments of belonging,” said Reilly at Kenco. “Alongside our Employee Community Networks, such as HEROES for veteran employees and KWIC – Kenco Women Igniting Change, these chapters will help ensure employees of all backgrounds have opportunities to grow.”
