Fermi America, Doosan Enerbility Partner on Nuclear-Powered AI Campus

Fermi America

Fermi America the world’s largest, energy-driven artificial intelligence (AI) private grid complex—and the largest global supplier of nuclear power plant components for the past 40 years, Doosan Enerbility, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), demonstrating their strategic partnership and intention to pursue broader collaboration across multiple projects and technology platforms in support of Fermi America’s long-term nuclear development strategy.  Through this mutually beneficial agreement, Doosan Enerbility joins a growing list of world’s best nuclear energy companies and experts who will be partnering with Fermi America, including the Texas Tech University System, Hyundai E&C, ASP Isotopes, and highly-respected nuclear experts who have just returned from developing nuclear power facilities in the UAE, Mesut and Sezin Uzman.

“Doosan Enerbility is the largest, most respected nuclear power plant component supplier in the world,” stated Fermi America Co-founder Toby Neugebauer. “The Korean culture mirrors our Fermi culture and the Texas way – do what you say you are going to do, on time and in budget. Executing at this velocity is the only way for America to win.”

“Having worked with Doosan for many years, I have seen firsthand their unmatched expertise and ability to deliver on complex projects. I have complete trust in their capability to help us realize our vision at Fermi America,” said Mesut Uzman, Chief Nuclear Commercial Officer of Fermi America.

Through the MOU signed by Neugebauer and Doosan Enerbility President Jongdoo Kim, the companies have expressed their intent to explore cooperation opportunities, not only in large-scale commercial nuclear power plants, but also in small modular reactor (SMR) technologies.  With a power output of no more than 300 Mwe and features that give it a clear advantage over conventional nuclear reactors found in large-capacity power plants, the SMRs enhance safety and flexibility with regard to installation and power output.

“We believe this relationship based in mutual respect will prove beneficial to both our company as well as Fermi America and we look forward to broad business collaboration in the days to come,” added Jongdoo Kim, President of Doosan Enerbility. “We have a strong track record of successful nuclear projects with Mesut Uzman and are pleased to partner with him again on this exciting project.”

Fermi America was co-founded by former U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry and Co-founder and former Co-Managing Partner of Quantum Energy, Toby Neugebauer, and is being built as a private grid on 5,200 acres of sovereign Texas Tech University System land.  The first company to file a new COL application with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and execute on the plan by securing long-lead supply chain items and partners, necessary to construct the largest new nuclear power complex in America by 2032, the company will bridge the power gap issue by building the nation’s biggest combined-cycle natural gas project, solar power, and battery energy storage campus, totally 11 gigawatts of power and 15 million square feet of artificial intelligence capacity. The first gigawatt of natural gas power generation is expected online by the end of 2026 with one GW delivered per year, every year, for a decade.
