Edtech company honored for HR leadership, People Experience team, and remote work offerings
Cambium Learning Group, the education essentials company, is a three-time winner at the 2025 Merit Awards for HR. The company’s People Experience (PX) Department and Chief People Officer Melissa Yates May are gold winners in the Remote Work Adaptation and Support and HR Leadership categories, respectively. The PX Department is also a silver winner for HR Team of the Year.
Cambium’s PX Department and Yates May were recognized for their efforts to ensure that all employees feel seen, valued and supported. They’ve championed this by implementing and supporting Cambium’s Remote First environment, which allows 98% of Cambium employees to work remotely. Through this progressive and responsive approach to today’s work needs, employees are able to dedicate more time to the creative processes that are critical to the work that Cambium does – ultimately making a direct impact on the teachers and students they serve.

This marks the second year in a row that Cambium won at the Merit Awards for HR. In 2024, the company was named a Gold Winner for HR Department of the Year and a Silver Winner for Remote Work & Flexible Work Arrangements. Over the past year, Cambium has received multiple other recognitions for the work that Yates May and its PX Department have accomplished, including:
- Winner and finalist in the 2024 WorkLife Awards in the HR Team of the Year and People/HR Leader of the Year categories, respectively
- Silver Winner at the 2024 Aetna Workplace Well-being Awards for Cambium’s well-being program

This year’s submissions were judged based on leadership, innovation, positive work environment, and more. Nominations were evaluated by industry executives, Merit Awards staff, members of the media, and consultants.
