California American Water, in collaboration with the American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, held a check presentation ceremony with Chartwell School in Monterey to provide $20,000 of funding for their specialized curriculum.
Chartwell School provides an individualized teaching structure that empowers students with dyslexia and associated learning differences to unlock their full potential. The school provides a college preparatory, strength-based program that gives students the skills, strategies, tools and mindset to become lifelong learners.
“California American Water is thrilled to provide much-needed funding for Chartwell School,” said Josh Stratton, Manager of External Affairs for California American Water. “Chartwell’s approach to student development and specialized teaching strategies empowers every student who walks through the school’s doors, and we’re excited to support the amazing work they do.”
California American Water has nearly 100 employees working on the Monterey Peninsula, many of whom know a family benefiting from the learning pathways taught at Chartwell School.
“Chartwell School truly appreciates the grant support provided by Cal Am,” said Donna Ferraro, Board Member at the school. “The American Water Charitable Foundation grant will directly help transform the lives of our young learners.”
The State Strategic Impact Grant is part of the Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. These grants support high-impact projects and initiatives throughout American Water’s regulated footprint.
