Organized by DealStreetAsia, a Singapore-headquartered media company known for its coverage of private equity, venture capital, and startup ecosystems, the summit convened Asia-Pacific’s leading investors, fund managers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. This year, the event highlighted climate tech innovation, including the session “The Upside: Climate tech innovators on building a sustainable venture.”
On September 11, Prashant Singh, Co-Founder and CEO of Blue Planet, joined this session to share the company’s journey of creating a technology-driven platform that integrates municipal solid waste, e-waste, plastics, hazardous waste, and biofuels into a unified circular economy model.
“Our sector is very capital-intensive, requiring significant investment. Over the last decade, transition financing has improved, but responsible capital deployment remains critical, especially for technologies that have demonstrated real, tangible benefits,” Singh said.
He also emphasized the importance of scaling proven solutions such as landfill mining and reclamation projects. “Many viewed these projects as too complex or expensive, but they are essential to addressing legacy waste challenges. The key is to make them investible and scalable through technology, partnerships, and supportive policy frameworks.”
Singh highlighted Blue Planet’s focus on measurable outcomes, including carbon reduction, land reclaimed, jobs created, and supply chain traceability. He stressed that patient, risk-aligned capital and progressive policies will be vital to transform successful pilots into citywide sustainable systems.
