List coincides with first anniversary for organization founded to standardize the practice, production, and promotion of high-quality thought leadership.
The Global Thought Leadership Institute (GTLI) at APQC has announced its inaugural list of the Top 100 Thought Leadership Producers. Compiled by the Board of Advisors of GTLI, the list recognizes organizations that define excellence in thought leadership by producing rigorous, insight-rich content that empowers executives to make smarter, faster decisions in an ever-changing world.

“GTLI was formed to promote the development of distinctive, evidence-based intelligence that gives business leaders the insights they need to make better decisions,” said Lisa Higgins, CEO of APQC. “On the first anniversary of the Institute’s founding, we are excited to recognize those organizations that exemplify this imperative and are truly making a difference for clients and customers in the thought leadership they produce. Our hope is that more organizations will be influenced by them and adopt best practices in the production of their own thought leadership.”
“This list includes organizations that have been thought leadership producers for decades, as well as relative newcomers, from large consultancies to professional associations and small businesses,” added Anthony Marshall, Chair of the GTLI Board of Advisors and Senior Research Director, Thought Leadership, IBM Institute for Business Value. “However, they all have one thing in common: they are committed to producing quality thought leadership that helps executives make better business decisions, and they do it within the guardrails of a true thought leadership practice.”
GTLI defines thought leadership as a distinct type of content with specific attributes:
- It must be evidence-based, meaning it must be backed by rigorous, credible research.
- It must deliver new insights even if it’s addressing a common business challenge.
- It must offer actions that help leaders move toward a solution.
Research indicates that the best thought leadership has a measurable and material impact for organizations that produce it—an ROI of 156%, which is nine times higher than a typical marketing campaign.1
In its first year, GTLI held monthly webinars, featuring insights from leading organizations to highlight best practices and strategies for thought leadership today and in the future. It also held its inaugural Symposium, an in-person gathering that provided an opportunity for even deeper collaboration and investigation of some of the most pressing issues in the production of thought leadership, such as the ascendancy of AI.
