Larimar City & Resort, the smart city developed by the Spanish company CLERHP, officially celebrated its inauguration this Saturday, marking a historic milestone in urban development in the Caribbean. The event gathered more than 300 guests, including government authorities, business leaders, investors, and members of Dominican society, together with strategic collaborators.

Larimar City & Resort is positioned as one of the most innovative and ambitious urban projects in Latin America. Conceived as the first smart city in the Dominican Republic, the development integrates sustainability, advanced engineering, and a long-term vision for urban living. The project received the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain, represented by the Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Mrs. Pilar Serret Murga, as well as local authorities such as Alexander Rodríguez, Mayor of La Otra Banda.

The ceremony was led by former Minister of Culture Milagros Germán and opened with a solemn blessing by the Bishop of La Altagracia, Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte. The event underscored the institutional significance of Larimar as a transformative project for the region.

During his speech, Juan Andrés Romero, CEO of Larimar City & Resort and President of CLERHP, highlighted the global relevance of the initiative. “Larimar was created to redefine how cities of the future are imagined. It is not only a real estate development; it is a strategic project that combines innovation, sustainability, and our company’s capability to lead large-scale international initiatives,” he stated. Romero emphasized that the concept of Larimar is the result of more than a decade of research, planning, and innovation.

After the remarks, authorities participated in the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, accompanied by the executive leadership of CLERHP. The event concluded with cultural presentations featuring the FUNEYCA Foundation, which received a donation in support of its work with children and young people in the Punta Cana region through music and culture. Guests later enjoyed a cocktail reception and a closing celebration overlooking the sunset on the iconic Punta Cana Cliff.
