Axio Education Names Todd Zipper CEO to Drive AI Learning Platform

Axio Education, an Agentic AI-powered learning platform, today announced the appointment of Todd Zipper as its new chief executive officer. Axio Education revolutionizes course creation and delivery by leveraging its AI platform to condense the development timeline from months to minutes, simultaneously delivering personalized learning pathways and continuous, real-time student feedback at a massive scale.

“Todd brings a rare blend of entrepreneurial energy, executive leadership, and passion for education that aligns perfectly with Axio Education’s vision to reshape how educators and students experience learning in the AI world,” said Axio Education Board Chair Rick Beyer. “His proven success across edtech ventures and growth-stage platforms will help Axio Education expand its impact in higher education and K-12 on a global basis.”

Zipper’s career spans more than two decades in education and technology. He recently served as executive vice president and general manager at John Wiley & Sons, where he oversaw global education businesses generating more than $300 million in annual revenue. Earlier, Zipper served as CEO of The Learning House, an Online Program Management (OPM) company that partnered with colleges and universities to build, market, and manage their online degree programs. He led the company’s explosive organic growth and successful sale to Wiley in 2018 following its acquisition by Weld Northwhere he spearheaded edtech investment strategy.

Todd succeeds Axio Education Founder Dr. Mark Naufel, who was formerly a professor of practice and technology leader at Arizona State University (ASU). Under Dr. Naufel’s leadership, the Axio Education AI platform was developed, and he also shaped the organization’s vision to transform the learning experience for students and educators. In 2023, as founder, Dr. Naufel successfully spun out Axio Education from the ASU Luminosity Lab.

“The advent of generative AI presents a true leapfrog opportunity to redesign teaching and learning,” said Zipper. “At Axio Education, we are seizing this moment to transform static content into adaptive, personalized pathways that ensure every learner has the tools to gain knowledge and advance in their coursework, and develop subject matter mastery. I am energized to collaborate with our team and institutional partners to deliver the next generation of learning.”
