Edgecore Wi-Fi Launches Full-Stack OpenWiFi POC Kit

Edgecore Networks Full-Stack OpenWiFi POC Kit enabling professionals to deploy open Wi-Fi networks rapidly.

The OpenWiFi Movement begins with a ready-to-run kit that enables professionals build a running OpenWiFi network in hours

Edgecore Networks, a leader in innovative network solutions for enterprises, data centers, and telecommunication service providers, today announced the launch of its Full-Stack OpenWiFi POC Kit, a pre-integrated toolkit that enables professionals to build and validate their first OpenWiFi network with ease. The kit marks the beginning of the OpenWiFi Movement—a call for professionals to reclaim control of their networks from closed vendor ecosystems.

Here, “professionals” refers to the MSPs, ISPs, and enterprises who come from a variety of industries, and who design, operate, and manage networks at scale. They are the ones with both the expertise and the responsibility to demand openness, avoid lock-in, and ensure that networks evolve with their needs.

“For too long, network operators have faced restrictions from proprietary solutions—including inflexible licenses, high costs, and limited options,” said TengTai Hsu, Vice President of Edgecore Networks. “The OpenWiFi POC Kit transforms this by providing professionals with a practical, hands-on approach to build an OpenWiFi network quickly, within hours, while experiencing the freedom and flexibility of open architecture Wi-Fi.”

The POC Kit includes OpenWiFi access points, an OpenLAN PoE switch, and the access to pre-integrated CloudSDK-enabled controller—ready to deploy. It contains all components necessary to build a fully functional OpenWiFi network:

  • EAP105 Wi-Fi 7 Access Points × 2
    • Wi-Fi 7 tri-band (2.4/5/6 GHz) with up to 320 MHz channels.
    • Speeds up to ~9.3 Gbps with MU-MIMO for improved multi-user performance.
    • Built-in BLE, Zigbee, and Thread for IoT and smart-space use cases.
    • 5 GbE PoE WAN + 1 GbE LAN port, powered by 802.3at PoE.
    • Works with CloudSDK-enabled controller; supports zero-touch provisioning (ZTP).
  • Edgecore ECS2100-10P PoE Switch × 1
    • 8× Gigabit PoE ports + 2× 1 GbE SFP uplinks + 1× console port.
    • 125 W PoE budget (802.3af/at), sufficient to power two APs.
    • Fanless design for silent, reliable operation (MTBF > 860,000 hours).
    • Supports VLAN, QoS, ACLs, security policies, STP, and link aggregation.
    • L3 Lite features (static routing, RIP) for added flexibility.
    • Managed via CloudSDK-enabled Controller / Web / CLI / SNMP.
  • CloudSDK Controller Access—with 2-Month Voucher
Each POC Kit includes a 2-month license for the pre-integrated CloudSDK enabled controller providing full access to configure, monitor, and optimize your OpenWiFi-enabled devices in the cloud. All components are pre-validated with the CloudSDK controller, ensuring a true out-of-the-box setup experience.

From unboxing to live deployment, professionals can set up a fully operational OpenWiFi network within hours—proving that professional autonomy doesn’t require added complexity.

Through the POC Kit, professionals can experience the key benefits of OpenWiFi:

  • MSPs → Deliver faster, showcase services with confidence, and improve margins.
  • ISPs → Scale on their own terms, reduce TCO, and differentiate with open architecture offerings.
  • Enterprises → Own their networks with confidence, avoid lock-in, and ensure long-term adaptability.

This launch positions Edgecore not just as a solution provider, but as a driver of an industry-wide movement. By lowering the entry barrier, the POC Kit enables professionals to test, learn, and scale at their own pace—while becoming part of a growing global OpenWiFi ecosystem.

“The OpenWiFi Movement is more than just new technology—it’s about empowering professionals to break free from vendor lock-in and take control of their networks,” added TengTai Hsu. “With the POC Kit, you are not buying Wi-Fi—you are building your own network.
