Ultra-Fast Fiber Internet Coming to Jackson with $48 Mn Metronet Expansion

100% Fiber Network Will Bring Lightning-Fast Speeds and Reliable Connectivity to Jackson, Summit, Vandercook Lake and Blackman Township

Metronet today announced a major infrastructure investment to expand its ultra-high-speed, 100% fiber-optic network to the Michigan communities of Jackson, Summit, Vandercook Lake and Blackman Township. Backed by a $48 million private investment, the project will deliver access to multigigabit internet speeds to tens of thousands of homes and businesses.

In partnership with T-Mobile Fiber, Metronet’s expanding fiber network powers world-class internet speeds that support streaming, remote work, gaming, telehealth and other bandwidth-intensive activities. The network will provide service to consumers and microbusinesses via T-Mobile Fiber, in addition to businesses and bulk MDU complexes which will be under the Metronet brand.

T-Mobile Fiber will deliver fast, reliable internet with plans starting at just $55 a month for 500 Mbps with Fiber AutoPay and a T-Mobile voice line. Every plan includes unlimited data, ultra-fast symmetrical speeds — and no annual contracts, equipment fees or installation charges. And only T-Mobile Fiber customers get the Un-carrier experience including a 5-year price guarantee (exclusions like taxes and fees apply), on top of benefits like weekly perks on dining, gas and entertainment with T-Mobile Tuesdays, free season-long subscriptions to MLB.TV and MLS Season Pass and more. Residents can sign up to be the first to know when T-Mobile Fiber is available at their address at fiber.t-mobile.com.

Commercial internet service with speeds up to 10 Gbps will be offered to local businesses by Metronet directly. More information on commercial services can be found at metronetbusiness.com.

“We’re excited to see this kind of private investment in our community,” said John Griffin, Summit Township supervisor. “High-speed internet is critical for life today and Metronet’s expansion brings greater opportunity for residents and businesses in our region.”

Construction on the new network is slated to begin this month, with buildout progressing across multiple neighborhoods in the coming months. To keep communities informed during construction, Metronet will communicate via mail with residents and businesses at least 30 days in advance of crews beginning work in a neighborhood. Yard signs, door hangers and neighborhood signs will further alert homeowners prior to construction activity starting. More information, including construction FAQs and videos, can be found at metronet.com/construction.

“Expanding into these communities is another exciting milestone for Metronet as we continue to grow in Michigan,” said Michele Johnson, new market development manager at Metronet.

Construction is either in progress or complete in more than 40 Michigan communities, including Lansing, Grand Rapids and Portage.
