MGAA Next Gen Mentoring Scheme: Third Cohort opens for Registration

MGAA

The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) is delighted to announce the launch of registrations for the third cohort of its Next Gen Mentoring Scheme.

The programme, which is proudly sponsored by AXA XL, is designed to inspire, guide and empower the next generation of professionals in the MGA sector and help to build long-lasting connections across the community. Candidates will have until the end of September 2025 to sign up. The scheme will commence in November 2025, following the successful pairing of mentees with their mentors

The scheme aims to:

  • Support personal and professional development for future leaders.
  • Address the perception of talent being lost from the industry over the next five years.
  • Build long-term, mutually beneficial connections through mentoring and networking.
  • Increase the visibility and impact of the Next Gen Committee within the MGAA.

Mike Keating, Chief Executive of the MGAA, said: “We are hugely passionate about our MGAA Next Gen Mentoring Scheme and the success of the first and second cohorts. The launch of our third cohort is a testament to the scheme’s impact and importance. Under the Co-Leadership of Charlotte Harrison and Thomas Pereira, the MGAA Next Gen Mentoring Programme will champion our view that mentoring is a mutually beneficial two-way relationship for mentees and mentors, aligning with our ‘modern minds for a modern world’ motto. This is a practical way to help tackle the talent gap for the future of the MGA and insurance sector, and we look forward to engaging with this year’s cohort in the year ahead.

“The MGAA is calling on mentees who are Next Gen professionals from our member firms to register. We are also seeking mentors with more than 15 years of experience in the insurance sector who are keen to offer honest and thoughtful guidance to support mentees growth and professional development.

“There is a clear link between mentoring and improved job performance, including career satisfaction, as well as a reduced chance of burnout. For example, 97% of those with a mentor reported that they found their mentor valuable, while 87% of both mentors and mentees felt empowered by the relationship and reported greater career satisfaction. The MGAA mentoring programme gives the next generation the support they need to thrive.”
