aiEDU and Google Launch Podcast ‘Raising Kids in the Age of AI’

Produced by Kaleidoscope — and co-hosted by Alex Kotran, CEO of aiEDU, and Dr. Aliza Pressman, developmental psychologist and NYT bestselling author of “The 5 Principles of Parenting,” — “Raising Kids in the Age of AI” looks at how AI is shaping education and learning.

The AI Education Project (aiEDU), a national nonprofit devoted to ensuring that every student is ready to live, work, and thrive in a world where AI is everywhere, today announced the launch of “Raising Kids in the Age of AI,” a new podcast created in collaboration with Google and produced by Kaleidoscope, a leading science and technology podcast network. The podcast is now available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast players.

“Raising Kids in the Age of AI,” a video and audio podcast, explores important questions for parents and caregivers about kids and AI — from responsible use, to harnessing its creativity, to how it will impact their careers. Each episode features conversations with parents, students, educators, and technology leaders, providing listeners with tangible advice to help young people navigate and explore AI.

The podcast is co-hosted by Alex Kotran, co-founder and CEO of aiEDU, and Dr. Aliza Pressman, a developmental psychologist, the New York Times bestselling author of “The 5 Principles of Parenting,” and host of the “Raising Good Humans” podcast.

“We want to help parents and caregivers understand AI and how their kids will encounter it, in school and throughout their lives,” said Kotran. “Our goal is to empower families on their AI journey. This podcast is designed to give parents the knowledge they need so their children can live, work, and thrive in an AI-driven world.”

Added Pressman: “I am learning so much about the world of AI through working on this podcast, and I’m also learning about new questions to think about that come with raising kids. I’m excited to share this journey with parents and caregivers.”

Kaleidoscope, which led editorial production, is known for creating compelling, accessible content.

“At Kaleidoscope, we’re passionate about making complex science and technology relatable and useful in our listeners’ everyday lives,” said Kate Osborn, Chief Strategy Officer of Kaleidoscope. “This podcast brings that mission to life by giving people the tools and insights they need to navigate one of the most important shifts of our time. We’re thrilled to partner with aiEDU to help our audience feel informed, empowered, and ready to thrive in the AI era.”

A podcast focused on raising kids in the age of AI

Each episode of “Raising Kids in the Age of AI” provides listeners with actionable advice and includes a mix of students, parents, and expert voices in the field, including Google leaders.

Episode 1, “Your Teen Wants to Start a Business. Can AI Help?” focuses on spurring kids’ passion with AI. Maureen Heymans, VP of Learning at Google, shares her perspective as both a parent and a technology leader on how kids can use AI to fuel creativity and some of the ways her own children use AI and the questions she asks.

“It’s also important to encourage independent thinking first. Not to jump too quickly to AI. Start thinking and brainstorming independently. Maybe start writing your ideas first on a piece of paper before you turn to AI. It should be an extension, not a replacement,” Heymans said.

Episode 1 of “Raising Kids in the Age of AI” is now available. New episodes drop on Thursdays. Upcoming episodes will delve into topics including an AI 101 for parents, AI safety, the future of AI inside the classroom, how AI is shaping the future of careers, media literacy, social and emotional safety, and more.
