Gulf Guaranty Life Upgraded by AM Best; Rebrands as American Gulf

Gulf Guaranty

Gulf Guaranty Life Insurance Company (“GGLIC”) d/b/a American Gulf today announced that AM Best has upgraded the company’s Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating (Long-Term ICR) to “bbb+” (Good) from “bbb” (Good) affirmed its Financial Strength Rating of B++ (Good), and removed the ratings from under review with developing implications. The outlooks assigned to these Credit Ratings are stable.

AM Best, a global credit rating agency that specializes in the insurance industry, utilizes research and analysis to assess corporate financial strength and creditworthiness. GGLIC received AM Best’s fourth highest rating in its financial strength category after being acquired by Acturion in March 2025.

This significant upgrade of the Long-Term ICR reflects AM Best’s recognition of Gulf Guaranty Life’s very strong balance sheet strength, adequate operating performance, limited business profile, and appropriate enterprise risk management. The conclusion of the review process, initiated after the company’s acquisition by Acturion, demonstrates the growing confidence in Gulf Guaranty Life’s strategic direction and capital position under its new ownership.

In parallel, the company is proud to announce the launch of its new brand identity, American Gulf. This rebranding highlights the company’s evolution and enhanced capabilities made possible by Acturion’s resources, while building on Gulf Guaranty’s long-standing reputation for trusted service and underwriting excellence. The new American Gulf brand reflects both continuity and ambition as the company expands its reach and product offerings.

“The Long-Term ICR upgrade to `bbb+’ and B++ FSR rating affirmed by AM Best underscores the balance sheet strength and disciplined risk management approach of American Gulf,” said Stephan Muecke, Managing Partner at Acturion. “This outcome reflects the quality of the platform we are building with the American Gulf brand, as we are committed to continuing our focus on long-term capital strength and sustainable growth. It is also a reflection of our trustworthiness, and our ability to provide best-in-class support to our clients, agents, and partners when they need it most.
