Nonetheless, this character of borderlessness poses a serious challenge; AI innovation is lightning-fast, whereas ethics and regulation are comparatively slow and vary immensely in different directions by region. Lack of ornamented governance also means that the world would likely experience ethical fragmentation, vague protections, and regulatory loopholes that can be exploited.
To counter this challenge, there is a need to have a combined, global way to build AI in a physically conscionable and equal manner.
This article explores the reasons behind the challenge of alignment followed by an overview of the prevailing models of governance, identification of case studies of governance, and ways of achieving harmonization.
