American Tower Corporation today announced the release of its 2024 sustainability executive report and accompanying indices and supplements, which highlight the Company’s progress across its three sustainability pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance. The report underscores American Tower’s commitment to aligning sustainability with operational excellence and long-term value creation.
“Our sustainability strategy is rooted in driving business value while addressing the evolving needs of our customers and communities,” said Steve Vondran, American Tower’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Through initiatives like our energy program, digital access efforts and operational efficiency improvements, we’re delivering measurable results that strengthen our business and create shared value for all stakeholders.”
Key highlights from the 2024 report include:
- Energy Innovation: Enhanced energy storage capacity to one gigawatt hour across 24,500 sites, improving reliability and efficiency.
- Digital Communities Program: Achieved the halfway mark of the Company’s corporate social responsibility goal to positively impact the lives of two million people by 2030 through digital literacy, financial literacy and career skilling, and healthcare services.
- Circular Economy Commitment: Recycled or reused 98% of tower steel waste, totaling 9,700 tons, as part of resource optimization efforts.
- Employee Development Focus: Delivered over 181,000 hours of internal training in 2024, averaging 38 hours per employee, as part of ongoing efforts to support career growth and strengthen the Company’s talent pipeline.
This year, American Tower also launched redesigned and enhanced sustainability webpages, providing stakeholders with a more dynamic and interactive platform to explore the Company’s sustainability initiatives and progress.
