One of the Bay Area’s and the Nation’s Largest General Contractors Stands Out for Offering an Exceptional Work Experience for its Teammates
DPR Construction, one of the nation’s leading technical builders, has been recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as the #1 Best Place to Work in the Bay Area and the #1 Best Place to Work for Wellness among companies with more than 500 employees.
The annual Best Places to Work in the Bay Area awards, presented by the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal, celebrate companies with exceptional workplace cultures—those that resonate most with the people who know them best: their employees.
In fact, a DPR Construction employee noted in the anonymous survey that, “The work-life balance is excellent. We are never asked or put in a position where we must sacrifice our personal life and family for work.”
The Best Places to Work Awards recognize local employers that have gone above and beyond to create an outstanding workplace culture. The rankings are based on confidential surveys of employees that measure success in team dynamics, trust in leadership, communication and more, with only the top-scoring companies in the region earning the coveted right to be named one of the Best Places to Work.
DPR earned the top spot in the large company category with an overall score of 89.75 and a wellness score of 87.84. Combined with a benefits score of 93, DPR was honored with the Best Place to Work for Wellness recognition, which honors companies that incorporated wellness into their organizations through health offerings, benefits and personal engagement.
“What sets DPR apart? We work differently,” said Chris Strock, DPR’s Bay Area co-business unit leader. “We value our people, work to ensure they feel safe, individually respected and empowered to speak up. The result is a workplace where people not only feel that they belong but also have fun doing complex, purposeful work.”
DPR offers competitive compensation and industry-leading benefits to its teams, including those in the skilled trades. In addition to traditional benefits, like health and life insurance, augmented offerings (which vary depending on tenure and union affiliation) include holiday pay, education assistance, free access to counseling, and family planning. The company also prioritizes and invests in building a culture of belonging—one where focusing on mental health is encouraged and getting people home safely is the top priority.
“We have worked hard to listen to employees over the years and break free of norms of the construction industry to offer our team what we think is an environment where they can thrive,” said Kevin Chen, DPR’s Bay Area co-business unit leader. “This recognition is a direct result of our people and our culture—one built through conversations, connections, and daily actions that reflect who we are and what we believe.”
