With experience at 6 of the top 10 UK universities, 4 of the top 10 European Business Schools and UNESCO Paris, ICS.AI’s new Education Sector Leader will drive AI vision across sector
Basingstoke, UK; 8th July, 2025: ICS.AI, the UK’s leading provider of conversational AI solutions for the public sector, today announced the appointment of Dr. Crispin Bloomfield as its new Education Sector Leader.
Cris joins ICS.AI after nearly three decades of innovation at the intersection of technology and higher education, including a transformative tenure at Microsoft’s global consulting team, where he helped some of the world’s leading universities harness AI to drive digital change.
As part of his role at Microsoft’s Industry Solutions Delivery team, Cris provided strategic consultancy to education institutions ranging from single campuses to national education bodies. He has engaged directly with six of the top ten UK universities, four of Europe’s leading business schools, and worked with UNESCO in Paris on a groundbreaking AI proof of concept to support its global education mission.
“ICS.AI has already shown the power of AI to reimagine how universities engage with students and deliver services,” said Cris. “I’ve seen first-hand how ICS.AI’s innovative approach inspired rapid results at institutions like Durham University, where our work helped redefine admissions strategy, earned national award nominations, and featured in the Educause Horizon Report. I’m proud to be part of a company that’s shaping the future with purpose and creativity.”
With a deep background in C-level engagement and institutional strategy, Cris is uniquely positioned to help UK universities and colleges unlock the potential of AI beyond IT departments – bridging technology with admissions, student experience, research, and operational excellence. He brings proven expertise in recovering failing digital programmes, scaling successful initiatives, and aligning technology with strategic objectives, honed during collaborations with Oxford, Imperial College London, and the University of Manchester.
“Cris’ unparalleled track record in education technology, coupled with his passion for driving meaningful, measurable outcomes, makes him the ideal leader to accelerate our growth in the education sector,” commented Martin Neale, CEO of ICS.AI. “Cris understands both the strategic and operational challenges institutions face today and how AI can be deployed thoughtfully to deliver real transformation.”
Cris’ appointment signals ICS.AI’s commitment to reshaping the future of education in the UK. Under his leadership, the company plans to expand its AI-powered solutions, already trusted by leading universities and local councils, to help education institutions address critical challenges in student engagement, operational efficiency, and institutional competitiveness.
“Our goal is to ensure that AI doesn’t just promise change, but delivers it, helping UK institutions set new standards for excellence, agility, and student success,” added Cris.
