LFRV Associados Becomes the First Certified Project in Collaboration with OTEC

The Global Network for Zero (GNFZ) announced today its first net zero certified project in Brazil. In partnership with OTEC, Brazil’s premier sustainability consulting firm, LFRV Sociedade de Advogados (LFRV Associados), a Brazilian law firm, has received GNFZ’s Net Zero Operations: Emissions certification for its office space. This certification signals continued adoption of net zero certifications and sustainable building practices across Latin America.

Based in São Paulo, LFRV Associados delivers strategic, personalized, and forward-thinking legal counsel across a range of practice areas. From May 2024 to April 2025, LFRV Associados conducted its first greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions assessment and established a 2030 emissions reduction target as part of its net zero roadmap. The firm’s plan focused on key strategic actions, including energy conservation, support for green commuting and remote work, sustainable development, digital documentation, employee engagement, behavior change, and transparent reporting via the GNFZ platform. LFRV Associados intends to improve Scope 3 emissions data granularity and explore renewable energy procurement in future cycles. The firm remains committed to continuous improvement and alignment with Brazil’s national climate goals.

As GNFZ’s primary implementation partner in Brazil, OTEC utilized its market expertise to establish a strong implementation ecosystem, while GNFZ provided third-party verification for LFRV Associados.

“In collaboration with GNFZ and its industry-leading net zero platform, we successfully guided LFRV Associados through the certification process,” said David Douek, Founder and Development Director at OTEC. “The first project certified under our partnership, this marks the beginning of our efforts to accelerate the adoption of net zero practices across Brazil.”

With Brazil leading the green building movement in South America, this certification sets a new standard for businesses across the region. The project embodies GNFZ’s vision for Brazil: transforming the building sector and beyond through a comprehensive “zero to zero” approach, where net zero becomes the norm, with green buildings driving the transition.

“This project establishes a new benchmark for sustainable building practices, not only in Brazil but across Latin America,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO of Global Network for Zero. “As I always say, partnership is the new leadership, and this achievement was made possible through our collaboration with OTEC.”

The project is the first of many GNFZ net zero certifications in Brazil, which include: Net Zero Certification for Buildings at the Design, Construction, and Operations stages; Net Zero Certification for Portfolios; and Net Zero Certification for Businesses. All certifications are offered across four key categories of Energy, Water, Waste, and Emissions.
