AFL, Inligo Partner to Advance Fibre Manufacturing for Unite

Inligo Networks, the developer behind the Asia-Pacific’s next generation of digital infrastructure, has officially appointed global leader American Fujikura Limited (AFL) as the primary cable supplier for its flagship Unite Cable System.

The Unite Cable System is a high-capacity, low-latency terrestrial network spanning six Australian states and territories. By partnering with AFL, Inligo will accelerate the deployment of a critical “digital highway” connecting international subsea cables, major data centres, and regional hubs.

Powering the AI and rewiring the Data Revolution As demand for AI-driven processing and cloud scalability explodes, Australia requires a more resilient terrestrial backbone. The Inligo-AFL partnership merges Inligo’s regional vision with AFL’s local world-class manufacturing to deliver a network built for the next decade of data demand.

“Appointing AFL is a definitive milestone for the Unite Cable System,” said Brian Evans, Chief Executive Officer of Inligo Networks. “AFL’s ability to deliver high-performance fibre in the correct form factor, at scale ensures we can meet our aggressive deployment timelines and provide Australia with the advanced connectivity it desperately needs.”

The Unite Cable System is a high‑capacity, low latency terrestrial fibre network.

Tony Dunstan, Chief Executive Officer and President – Australia, New Zealand and India at AFL, added: “We are proud to be the engine room for Inligo’s vision. The Unite Cable System is a transformative project for Australia’s connectivity landscape, and our high-performance solutions are engineered to support that exact kind of mission-critical infrastructure.”

Connecting the Continent, The Unite Cable System is currently rolling out in stages, linking Darwin, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra, along with vital regional centres. Once complete, it will serve as a primary artery for carriers, enterprises, international subsea network owners and the regional communities currently underserved by existing infrastructure.
