Georgia Southern & Ziplines Launch Career Certificates

New short-format programs equip professionals across Georgia with in-demand digital and AI-driven skills to compete and advance in a rapidly evolving economy.

As AI, automation, and digital transformation reshape industries across Georgia and the Southeast, Georgia Southern University is taking bold steps to prepare the region’s workforce for what’s next.

In collaboration with Ziplines Education, a national career accelerator and trusted partner to more than 30 universities, Georgia Southern University is launching a series of short-format, university-branded certificate programs built for working professionals, adult learners, and career changers across the state.

Launching this spring, the new programs include Project Management, Business Analytics, Digital Marketing, AI Prompting, and AI Automation—each designed to close urgent skill gaps and open new pathways to opportunity.

“Georgia Southern has always been committed to making education accessible and relevant to the communities we serve,” said Deedee Southerlin, Director at Georgia Southern University. “These programs give professionals across our region the tools, confidence, and credentials to stay competitive in a workforce that’s being reshaped by technology. Partnering with Ziplines Education allows us to move quickly and deliver the kind of career-focused programs our learners and employers need right now.”

The economic need is clear. According to Lightcast labor market data for Georgia, demand for automation skills is projected to grow 30%, data analysis skills by 26%, Tableau proficiency by 21%, project management by 20%, and digital marketing by 17%. Across sectors—from logistics and healthcare to manufacturing and professional services—Georgia employers are seeking professionals who can lead teams, analyze data, and apply AI tools responsibly and effectively.

Each certificate program is 5–10 weeks long and blends self-paced learning with weekly live sessions led by industry practitioners. Participants gain hands-on experience with real tools and workflows, career support from dedicated learner success advocates, and the flexibility to learn without leaving the workforce.

“Our goal is to create programs that meet learners where they are—accessible, relevant, and rigorous enough to drive real career growth,” said Maria Rogers, CPE Program Manager at Georgia Southern University. “This partnership helps us deliver on that promise while ensuring our programs reflect what employers in Georgia are actually looking for.”

“We’re proud to partner with Georgia Southern University in bringing workforce programs that reflect the urgency of the moment,” said Sara Leoni, CEO of Ziplines Education. “When universities like Georgia Southern move with speed and purpose, it sends a powerful signal to their communities: that this region won’t just adapt to the wave of digital transformation—it will lead through it.”

Enrollment is now open for spring 2026 cohorts. To learn more and register, visit https://www.ziplines.com/partners/georgia-southern-university or ziplines.com.
