Pape-Dawson Announces Launch of Midwest Region
Pape-Dawson has acquired BHC, a respected Overland Park–based national engineering and surveying firm whose team and expertise form the core of Pape-Dawson’s Midwest Region with more than three decades of experience serving public and private sector clients across the United States. This strategic expansion demonstrates the company’s commitment to regional growth, innovation, and investment in communities across America’s heartland.
BHC Brings Established Expertise and Strong Client Relationships to Pape-Dawson
BHC founders Kevin Honomichl, Bill Brungardt, and Matt Brungardt, launched the engineering firm 33 years ago with a focus in the telecommunications field. Their expertise supported the delivery of critical connectivity and data infrastructure across the nation every year since its inception. Over the past two decades, the firm strategically diversified its services to include public works, development, surveying, construction services, and landscape architecture. BHC’s emphasis on collaboration, quality ‘No Problem’ service, and client relationships has helped shape important projects throughout the Midwest.
The acquisition strengthens Pape-Dawson’s capabilities in the Midwest and builds upon the firm’s growing presence in the Kansas City market, including its 2025 acquisition of Coffman Associates, a national aviation planning firm.
“Joining Pape-Dawson allows us to maintain the relationships, culture, and local leadership our clients value, while gaining access to expanded resources, technology, and multidisciplinary expertise,” said Kevin Honomichl, President of BHC. “This next chapter creates new opportunities for our employees and enhances the services we provide.”
Kansas City was selected as the home of the new Midwest Region thanks to its dynamic design ecosystem, strong business environment, and rich legacy of engineering excellence. This acquisition complements the strong assets already established in the region, bringing fresh energy and expanded capabilities into a landscape that is already robust, collaborative, and future-focused. “We’re excited to see Pape-Dawson join forces with BHC as a complement to that collaborative energy,” said Ashley McDonald, managing director of KC Global Design. “With more than 1,200 firms and a steady pipeline of talent, this region is a hub of collaboration and global innovation, shaping the future of design.”
“BHC has built an outstanding reputation rooted in technical excellence, strong client relationships, and deep community involvement,” said Trey Dawson, President of Pape-Dawson. “We’re grateful to welcome their talented team and expand the services and resources available to clients throughout the Midwest.”
This acquisition and establishment of a Midwest Region supports Pape-Dawson’s long-term growth strategy and strengthens its ability to deliver comprehensive engineering and consulting services across the United States. BHC’s leadership team and staff will continue to operate from the Kansas City area, serving existing clients while leveraging the broader capabilities of Pape-Dawson’s national network.
