The 2026 Niche Standout High Schools list honors public schools making a difference in their community

DeVry University Advantage Academy (DUAA) has earned the No. 12 ranking for the 2026 Standout High Schools in Illinois according to Niche, a leading platform connecting students and families with colleges and schools. This recognition highlights DeVry University’s partnership with Chicago Public Schools and Advantage Academy’s commitment to student success, preparing them to transition seamlessly into postsecondary education equipped with the skills they need to succeed.

“We are proud that DeVry University Advantage Academy continues to be recognized for its excellence,” said Elise Awwad, president and CEO of DeVry University. “Expanding access to high-quality pathways that link secondary and postsecondary education can open significant opportunities for students, and DUAA does exactly that, by enabling Chicago Public School students to earn both a high school diploma and a college degree, gaining a head start on their future.”

“As educators, we take seriously our role in preparing students for the next step in their educational journey,” added Brian Niro, assistant dean, teaching and learning for DeVry University. “Programs like DUAA not only accelerate education, but also break down barriers, transform futures and show our learners what is possible when they believe in themselves and dedicate themselves to their future.”

The 2026 Niche Standout High School list recognizes public schools that are making a difference in their communities. The ranking is based on rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data and ratings collected from millions of Niche users.

Founded in 2004, DeVry University Advantage Academy is a dual-enrollment program for qualified 11th and 12th grade students offered at no cost and welcomes students from 48 high schools across the Chicago Public School system. Advantage Academy students earn their high school diplomas and associate degrees at the same time.

At Advantage Academy, high school students are immersed in a professional learning environment where they develop skills through challenging, engaging and relevant educational experiences. They cultivate strong learning habits that shape their college experience, gaining an early advantage by allowing them to earn an associate degree and develop essential academic skills while still in high school.

DUAA Chicago boasts a 100% graduation rate, with nearly 95% of students continuing their education at a four-year college or university.

“Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a family can make,” noted Luke Skurman, founder and CEO of Niche. “Our K-12 rankings bring together rigorous data and real experiences from students, parents and educators. This gives families the clarity to choose schools where their children can succeed academically, thrive socially, and build a strong foundation for their future.”
